Christina Karapetis, 22, and Ash De Silva, 23, are hitting the road for a cause close to their hearts at this year’s Lumary City-Bay Fun Run, supported by the Sunday Mail.

They are raising money for Head and Neck Cancer Australia, in support of lifelong friend Bella Bradford,23, who is battling rhabdomyosarcoma – a rare cancer in her jaw.

“Head and Neck Cancer Australia is a really small organization that helps support people like Bella who have these cancers that are not very common, not like your breast cancers, bowl cancers, “Ms Karapetis said.

They have helped Bella so much since she was diagnosed and we want to support the people who are supporting our friend and others like her to get the best treatment and care.”

The Fundraiser is also a way for them to support Bella, who is currently based in Sydney, from her home town of Adelaide.

“It’s a way for us to support Bella when we’re not around her and show her that Adelaide Loves her,”
Ms Karapetis said.

The pair have raised more than $13,000 so far through donations and selling T-Shirts and aim to reach $20,000.

In 2022, the iconic City-Bay raised more than $250,000 for charities and the community. This year’s September 17 event will see thousands of participants run or walk 12km,6km and 3km, plus the 21.1km half marathon.

And it’s not too late to join them, Online registration strictly closes at 10am on Saturday, September 16.
