Sub 50, Sub 60 & Elite Applications

QUALIFYING TIMES FOR ENTRY INTO SPECIFIC CATEGORIES IN CITY-BAY 12 KM RACE 

• Elite Men – 40 minutes or 3:20 mins/km 
• Elite Women – 44 minutes or 3:40 mins/km 
• Sub 50 – 4:10 mins/km 
• Sub 60 – 5:00 mins/km

APPLICATION FOR ENTRY AS AN ELITE ATHLETE 

Elite entry will be granted at the Race Director’s discretion to athletes registered with Athletics Australia who have met the qualifying time during the previous 12 months in an event of at least 10 kms. Eligible events include the previous year’s City-Bay race or an Athletics Australia sanctioned event. 

APPLICATION FOR ENTRY AS A SUB 50 OR SUB 60 ATHLETE 

Sub 50 or sub 60 entry will be granted at the Race Director’s discretion to athletes who have met the relevant qualifying times:

• In the previous year’s City-Bay race of at least 10 kms; or 

• In any other event of at least 10 kms during the previous 6 months.

EVIDENCE OF RESULTS FOR EVENTS OTHER THAN THE PREVIOUS CITY BAY RACE 

Athletes will need to provide evidence of race times in an event of 10 kms or more in which they have participated during the last 6 or 12 months (whichever is relevant). This can be done by providing a link to the published results or by attaching a document from the event organiser confirming the results from an official race event.  Times obtained solely from applications such as STRAVA or Garmin are not accepted.   

ENTRY CONDITION FOR ENTRANTS AGED UNDER 18 AND/OR SEEKING ELITE OR SUB 50/60 ENTRY 

Whether or not an application for entry is accepted, there is another condition with which athletes must comply. 

It is a condition of entry into a City-Bay event that any person under the age of 18 years cannot participate unless supervised by an adult throughout the duration of the whole event.  The adult who will accompany the athlete will need to enter the event first. The athlete will then be able to enter by providing the name and race number of that adult before their application can be accepted. 

APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE 

The City Bay Fun Run Committee is a not-for-profit organisation that raises funds to support athletics in South Australia. The City-Bay Fun Run Committee is not able to offer financial assistance for travel or accommodation for any athletes however deserving.
